modal material scarf

A necktie is a compulsory piece of accessory for a man which is used in office, parties, functions and even during casual getaways. It is made of soft and subtle material which requires a lot of care and special attention. The other fact of necktie is that it is the dirtiest and stained accessory in the closet which gets to get dirty every now and then. The ties are expensive and thus, you would always wish to keep them clean, safe, new and last longer.
In this blog post, we will tell you some of the best and affective tips to remove stains from the ties and ideas to keep them safe for a longer usage. So, here we go:
Removing Stains from the Tie
These days, a lot of neckties are pre-treated with mark-blocking finish. But, a stain or mark is next to inevitable. In case you encounter such an experience, the first thing that should be done is dip a clean white hand napkin in some club soda and dab on the stain softly. Do not press the cloth hard as it may rub the spot deeper in the tie. In case the stain is greasy, then get some talcum powder, baking soda or foot powder in order to absorb extra oil from the cloth. This will help in cleaning the tie in a better way.
General Cleaning
If your necktie looks dirty and needs a simple general cleaning, then prefer to get a handwash done rather than using a washing machine. Using machine can cause damage to the soft material and shorten the life of your tie. While washing, use a gentle soap so that lint is not formed. In case you have a silk tie, then dry cleaning is the best option as it preserves the smooth and glossy finish of the material. Ask to hand press the tie as the pressing technique used by the dry cleaners is too harsh for such delicate fabric and may result in frayed edges. If you wish to use a home dry cleaning set or wash with your hands, ensure to pre-treat on the marks before cleaning.
Ironing your Tie
Polyester and silk ties need cool iron, linen and cotton need hot iron and wool ties need medium-hot iron setting. While ironing the necktie, it is essential to remember that the fabric is delicate and thus, needs to be gently. Start ironing the tie from the wrong side lightly and while you come to the front potion, use a very thin cloth on the top of the tie and then iron very gently. This will prevent scorch marks. Also, do not iron a stained necktie as this will set-in the stain permanently making it difficult to remove later.
If you have a wrinkled tie and do not wish to use an iron, the best option is to hand the necktie in the bathroom filled with steam. This will soften the necktie fibres and decrease the wrinkles drastically.
A necktie is the most essential accessory especially for men as this completes their look and attire. Thus, it gets essential to have a nice collection of neckties which keeps you updated and make you look smart always. But, having a lot of ties does not mean having stained ties. It is essential to keep the ties in the best shape and condition in order to avoid embarrassments.
